Loaves and Fishes, TN
Loaves and Fishes of Clarksville/Montgomery County (L&F) is a 501c3 public charity organization that has been providing healthy food, nutrition training and related services to community residents who are at, or below, the federal poverty level since 1983. In January 2021, L&F moved to a newly-constructed 15,000 square foot facility at 825 Crossland Ave. in Clarksville in order to accommodate the increasing need for food security in this community. The area surrounding this new site is comprised of a mix of single and multi-family apartment and housing complexes as well as government-subsidized housing. We serve the undersheltered and homeless along with many in need of food to help with the confounding problem of paying for housing .
Our mission is to provide nutritious sustenance to the food-insecure local population on a dependable, regular basis as well as continue to partner with local organizations to provide these and other services to improve the overall health of the community.
Current programs that L&F offer include a Hot Meal Program six days per week as well as a bagged take-home meal for Sundays. At least once per month, we host a Shower Love in partnership with First Presbyterian Church Service and Missions and YAIPaks. The event makes available showers, haircuts, fresh clothing, basic health screening and a simple meal. Monthly partnerships to expand access to health includes a regular schedule with Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Care/HOWE and as needed vaccination events with Walgreens, APSU, and the Montgomery County Health Dept. Our direct warehouse distribution and delivery to 30 other area agencies help extend the access to food and supplies to outlining areas of the community. We partner with over three dozen local organizations that we join forces with to provide nutritious food to needy individuals and families through the hot meal service. These include churches, groups of friends, businesses and civic organizations.
